Getting Professional Advice
The importance of getting professional advice and guidance cannot be overemphasised. If you live in an area where such advice can be obtained directly from a teacher, you are lucky. If you do not have access to such a teacher, or even if you do, the following book by Paul Carroll provides invaluable information on all aspects of acquiring, playing, caring for, and choosing repertoire for the baroque bassoon, and the other later baroque woodwinds (transverse flute, the oboe family, and the recorder) as well. Highly recommended.
